Step into the spotlight and compete for the prestigious title of Miss Coalville Stampede Rodeo Queen. Open to young women who are residents of Summit, Wasatch and Morgan County, Utah and ages 17 to 25 (or those graduating high school by spring of the current year). The inaugural Miss Coalville Stampede Rodeo Queen Contest celebrates leadership, horsemanship, public speaking, community involvement and the traditions of the Western lifestyle.
As the official ambassador of the Coalville Stampede Rodeo, the Queen represents the spirit and heritage of rodeo while promoting the Stampede at rodeos, parades, community events, fundraisers, media appearances and western celebrations throughout the year.
Contestants will showcase their talents and skills through personal interviews, public speaking, modeling, impromptu questions and horsemanship competition, demonstrating the confidence, professionalism, sportsmanship and character expected of rodeo royalty. This unique opportunity allows young women to build lifelong friendships, develop valuable leadership skills and become a respected representative of the Coalville Stampede Rodeo, one of Utah's premier celebrations of agriculture, western heritage and community pride.
General Rules & Expectations
Winning the title of Miss Coalville Stampede Rodeo Queen is both an honor and a responsibility. The titleholder serves as an official representative of the Coalville Stampede, embodying the Stampede’s values while promoting the sport of rodeo. She is expected to conduct herself with dignity, professionalism and enthusiasm at all times, ensuring her actions, speech and attire reflect the prestige of her title. Additionally, she must demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship, high moral and ethical character and a commitment to the humane treatment of animals.
Eligibility Requirements

Contestants must be between 17* and 25 years of age as of the competition date (*or graduate high school by spring of the current year).

Contestants must read, understand, and agree to abide by all competition rules and regulations.

Contestants must be single, never married, and have no children. Titleholders may not marry or assume marital obligations during their reign.

Contestants must be in 12th grade or have successfully completed high school (or an equivalent certification).
Contestant Code of Conduct
To uphold the integrity of the title, contestants must adhere to the highest standards of conduct:

Contestants must maintain a positive public image and refrain from any behavior deemed inappropriate by the Queen Contest Committee.

Unacceptable actions include (but are not limited to) the consumption of alcohol, use of illegal drugs, or participation in any illegal activity. Any violation of these standards is grounds for immediate disqualification.

Titleholders must follow all contest rules throughout their reign.
Competition & Titleholder Responsibilities

Queen must be available for scheduled activities leading up to the (a full list of required appearances is attached to this application).

Contestants must provide and maintain a well-mannered, properly groomed horse for both the competition and official events.

If crowned Miss Coalville Stampede Rodeo Queen, the winner may not hold additional rodeo royalty titles without prior written approval from the Miss Coalville Rodeo Royalty Committee.

Contestants must provide their own wardrobe in accordance with the competition’s guidelines.
Titleholder Obligations & Disqualification

The Miss Coalville Stampede Rodeo Queen winner is required to attend and participate in the Coalville Stampede rodeo, held annually in September, as well as other promotional events for the Coalville Stampede

The Miss Coalville Stampede Rodeo Queen winner is not free to schedule their own appearances. All appearances as the Miss Coalville Stampede Rodeo Queen must be approved by the Queen Committee or the Coalville Stampede committee.

If the reigning titleholder is unable to fulfill her duties at any point during her term, the first runner-up will assume the title. In such a case, all scholarships, awards, and gifts received in connection with the title must be returned to the Coalville Stampede Rodeo Queen committee

All decisions made by the judges are final.

The Coalville stampede committee and the Queen Committee reserve the right to amend competition rules at their discretion and hold authority over any rule discrepancies.

At check-in, contestants will receive their contestant number, horsemanship pattern and the day’s agenda.
During orientation, we will introduce the pageant coordinators, and the judges. There will be three judges, each highly qualified to evaluate this competition. All judging decisions are final.
Conduct Expectations:

Poor sportsmanship, tardiness, interference, or inappropriate behavior will negatively impact scores.

Harassment of judges, committee members, or other contestants - by a contestant, family member, or representative - will result in immediate disqualification.
The orientation will also include a review of the schedule and activity locations, followed by media and sponsor photos.
Contestants must arrive dressed and ready for personal interview

The Miss Coalville Stampede Rodeo Queen Contest is designed to evaluate each contestant's ability to serve as an effective ambassador for the Coalville Stampede Rodeo and the sport of rodeo. Contestants will be judged by a panel of three qualified judges across multiple categories that assess leadership, communication skills, confidence, horsemanship, professionalism and overall presentation.
Personal Interview
Each contestant will participate in a private interview with the judging panel. This portion allows judges to evaluate personality, communication skills, rodeo knowledge, leadership qualities, confidence and the contestant's ability to represent the Coalville Stampede Rodeo in public settings.

Interviews will last approximately 10 minutes per contestant.

Contestants must wear a western-style dress or a blouse and skirt outfit.

Late arrivals may be docked points.
Modeling & Presentation
Contestants will perform a modeling routine that showcases poise, confidence, stage presence and professionalism. Judges will evaluate overall appearance, personality, posture and the ability to confidently present themselves as a rodeo queen ambassador.

Maximum time limit: 2 minutes.
Speech Competition
Contestants will select from a list of five provided topics and prepare an original speech. Judges will evaluate content, organization, delivery, confidence, authenticity and the contestant's ability to effectively communicate with an audience. All speeches must be written and presented solely by the contestant.

Contestants will have 10 minutes to prepare a 1.5-2 minute speech on the selected topic.
Impromptu Question
Following the speech portion, contestants will answer an impromptu question drawn at random. This category measures quick thinking, communication skills, composure under pressure and the ability to respond thoughtfully and professionally in unexpected situations.
Judging Standards
Throughout the competition, contestants are expected to demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship, professionalism, integrity and respect for fellow competitors, judges, volunteers and the rodeo community. The Miss Coalville Stampede Rodeo Queen should embody the values of western heritage, leadership, community involvement and the humane treatment of animals.
Each category is worth a certain amount of points, totalling to certain points towards the final score.

Horsemanship is a key component of rodeo royalty. Contestants will perform a designated reining pattern and demonstrate control, riding ability, confidence and partnership with their horse. Judges will evaluate riding skills, precision, horsemanship technique, arena presence and overall presentation.
Attire: Contestants must wear denim jeans (any color), a long-sleeved western shirt, a cowboy hat, a belt and cowboy boots. Chaps, gloves and vests are not permitted.
Contestants must provide their own horse for horsemanship. The horse ridden at the contest must be the same horse used in appearances during the year, unless permission otherwise granted by t he queen committee.
Each category is worth a certain amount of points, totalling to certain points towards the final score.

Loralei Rowser
Rodeo Queen Director
Bio
Loralei Rowser serves as the Miss Coalville Stampede Rodeo Queen Director, bringing enthusiasm, determination, and a vibrant personality to the program. Known for her passion in everything she pursues, Loralei is currently attending Snow College, where she is working toward a degree in Pre-Med—reflecting her strong work ethic and commitment to helping others.
From a young age, Loralei discovered her love for dance, inspired by her grandmother, LeeAnn, who first introduced her to the art. She spent her early years dancing and competing through middle school, building confidence and discipline along the way. In high school, she brought that same energy to cheerleading, where she became known for uplifting her teammates and leading with positivity and spirit.
Loralei also has a deep love for animals, with a special soft spot for all creatures big and small—including her unique and beloved companion, her Komodo dragon.
As Rodeo Queen Director, Loralei is passionate about creating a fun, supportive, and empowering environment where contestants can grow in confidence, showcase their talents, and embrace the western heritage of the Coalville Stampede.
